This object is achieved according to the invention in that the peripheral seals are designed as hybrid seals, each with a high-pressure seal facing the respective pressure chamber and a low-pressure seal arranged behind it. When a pressure chamber is opened, the piston moves in the direction of the unpressurized pressure chamber due to the mass or gas pressure forces that arise during operation of the internal combustion engine, until the piston rests against one of the stops.
